Start Off Valentines Day with a Delicious Breakfast

Friday, February 9th, 2007

One of the joys of Valentine’s Day is to make your spouse or sweet heart feel extra special. One of the ways to accomplish this goal is to start off Valentine’s Day with a delicious breakfast.

One way to make sure you start the day off right is to make your loved one a breakfast to remember. This can included heart shaped pancakes, waffles or eggs or dress up your breakfast table with hearts and a themed Valentine’s table clothe.

Besides regular breakfast fare, you can purchase the night before or early in the morning delicious pastries that your spouse or sweet heart enjoys. Whether it is chocolate, a favorite cake or delicious bite sized pastries.

Besides the food, a great way to add to your delicious breakfast is with a breakfast cocktail such as delicious fresh juices, specialty coffee, tea or hot chocolate or a delicious whipped morning cocktail (without the alcohol of course).

And since you will be starting off your Valentine’s Day together, why not leave a special gift or card on the table for him to find. You don’t have to get him anything expensive (unless you want to), but for the most part, give a small gift that is more sentimental and thoughtful than just plain ordinary, expected gifts. These gifts can be personalized such as a hand written love letter, a nice card with something special written or a small gift that shows you know what he likes and what his interests are.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be all about him, if you have a family, celebrate Valentine’s Day with all of them, giving something special to each of your family members.

Valentine’s Day can be a wonderful holiday and while it has become commercialized over the past decades, you can still keep it personalized and special by starting off Valentine’s Day with a delicious breakfast.

Healthy Valentines Dinners

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

Valentines Day is one of the most popular holidays in America and while many people will celebrate it at a favorite restaurant, you can truly show your spouse or boyfriend that you really care about him by cooking him a healthy Valentine’s dinner.

First off, a healthy Valentine’s dinner doesn’t need to be boring, bland or made with off beat health foods. In fact, you can cook a healthy Valentine’s dinner without losing any flavor or creativity. Here are some tips on great healthy Valentine’s dinner.

Choose Lean Meats
Choose foods that are lean, but tasty. You don’t need to get rid of flavor, just be more choosey with the types of ingredients you use. For instance, choose lean cuts of meat, this can be chicken, lean cuts of pork and turkey. There are even lean cuts of red meat such as fillet mignon. You can even forego meat altogether and create a wonderful pasta dish or main vegetable dish such as stuff peppers or eggplant parmesan.

Cook Foods with Low Fat Oils
Now that you have your lean meat, don’t ruin it by frying it irresponsibly. Cook it lightly in olive oil or use a different method such as slow cooking it in a crock pot or baking your dish in the oven.

Add Vegetables to the Mix
Most Americans can benefit from eating more vegetables and one of the ways you can show your valentine how much you care is by serving healthy vegetables instead of French fries or other fatty sides dishes. Don’t be afraid to serve healthy vegetables such as broccoli or carrots, you can dress them up with some spice or healthy cheeses.

Add a Healthy Desert
It’s probably a sure thing that there will be plenty of chocolate around the house, so make sure you make him a light and healthy desert. A great idea can be a delicious fruit salad or even strawberries with some low fat yogurt or whipped cream.

Healthy Valentine’s dinners don’t have to be boring or unhealthy; they can be some of the best dinners of the year. Just show him how much he cares by planning it out and dressing it up for the occasion.
